Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doctor Gonzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzo comes to the cage accompanied by White Rabbit. The crowd seem to be enjoying Willis's choice of entrance music: Hometown Hero. Doctor Gonzo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Doctor Gonzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 1, fighting out of London, Patrick Willis!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Doctor Gonzo has been cut.

Willis gets caught flat footed, as Gonzo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gonzo trying to control but Willis is working from the bottom.
Willis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Willis controls Gonzo momentarily but Gonzo frees himself.
Gonzo preventing the sweep.
Willis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gonzo throws an elbow that misses. Willis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gonzo's guard. Nice move by Willis!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Willis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Willis has control of an arm but Gonzo manages to advance to Willis's back!
Willis tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Gonzo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Willis wants to control but Gonzo is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Willis holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gonzo tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Willis tries to reverse the position but Gonzo maintains control.
Willis sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Doctor Gonzo will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Willis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Willis feints and as Gonzo raises his hands in defense, Willis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Willis postures up in Gonzo's guard and throws a big left but Gonzo blocks it.
Willis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Willis with a flurry of punches that miss.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Willis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Willis wants to control from the top but Gonzo keeps moving.
Willis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Patrick Willis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gonzo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Willis dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gonzo takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Willis comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Willis lands a jab to Gonzo's midsection.
Gonzo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Willis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gonzo's guard.

Willis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gonzo's head.

Gonzo keeping moving, preventing Willis from controlling successfully.
Gonzo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Willis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Willis is pushing down on Gonzo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gonzo is fighting to maintain full guard but Willis has managed to sneak the leg through.
Willis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gonzo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Willis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Doctor Gonzo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Willis lands a right hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Willis and Gonzo goes tumbling to the canvas! Willis follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Willis is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gonzo is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Patrick Willis!
Patrick Willis really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that [EVO] Koffin Inc. *92% Laundry NOT Available* logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
