PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gi Tammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene B Hatterway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gi Tammer has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gi Tammer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gene B Hatterway!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tammer is looking to clinch.

Hatterway shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hatterway is keen to just control but Tammer is a slippery customer.
Tammer is looking for a sweep. Hatterway is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hatterway slows the pace down in half guard.
Hatterway is looking to advance position but Tammer won't allow it.
Tammer is looking to control Hatterway's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tammer avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tammer tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hatterway counters by moving into the clinch.
Tammer tries a body shot but Hatterway blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tammer goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tammer tries to pull guard but Hatterway holds him up against the cage and eventually Tammer drops back down to his feet.

Hatterway has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Tammer clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Tammer wants to control his opponent's hands but Hatterway gets his hands free.

Hatterway has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tammer has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hatterway keeps control of the position as Tammer tries to break free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Hatterway's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hatterway is not going to allow Tammer to sit and survive in this position.
Tammer holding both Hatterway 's hands and preventing any damage.
Tammer tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hatterway tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tammer can't escape the position.

Hatterway is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tammer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Tammer wants to hold on but Hatterway pushes him away.
Tammer is breathing heavily.
Hatterway is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hatterway can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tammer is looking to escape.

Hatterway with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Tammer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hatterway on the ground.
Hatterway lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tammer hang on?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hatterway tries to control but Tammer wriggling away.
Hatterway pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hatterway can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tammer is looking to escape.
Hatterway wants to take his opponent's back but Tammer doesn't allow it.

Hatterway wants to finish this one by submission but Tammer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hatterway.
Hatterway putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Hatterway looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hatterway is working for a guillotine from mount but Tammer frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gene B Hatterway dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hatterway gets a double leg takedown into Tammer's guard.

Hatterway decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tammer, up you get!

Hatterway closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hatterway lands in his opponent's guard.
Hatterway slips nicely into half guard.

Hatterway is working for a submission of some sort.
Tammer is not content to let Hatterway control the position.

Hatterway is working for a kimura but Tammer is defending it quite comfortably.
Tammer won't allow Hatterway to pass to mount.
Tammer wants to improve his position but Hatterway is controlling well.
Hatterway slips a nice elbow through Tammer's hands, connecting with Tammer's forehead.

Tammer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hatterway scores with a couple of nice shots.

Hatterway throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tammer is looking to control Hatterway's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tammer avoid being mounted?

Hatterway escapes and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hatterway shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tammer napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hatterway is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tammer's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gene B Hatterway has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tammer is looking for a sweep.
Hatterway working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Hatterway is trying to get an arm triangle but Tammer is defending well.
Tammer is trying to escape the position but Hatterway is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hatterway thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hatterway looking to control but instead Tammer has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Hatterway is keen to just control but Tammer is a slippery customer.

Hatterway is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hatterway moves into full mount! Tammer won't be happy about that!

Let's hope that Hatterway has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hatterway with shots to the head and body - Tammer looks very uncomfortable down there.

Hatterway gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hatterway drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hatterway controlling from the top position.
Hatterway trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Tammer manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hatterway manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tammer manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gene B Hatterway showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Tammer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Tammer gets caught napping as Hatterway dives in and scores a takedown. Tammer manages to retain guard.
Tammer looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Tammer is trying to keep Hatterway in close.
Tammer keeping full guard, as Hatterway tries to pass.

Hatterway drops back looking for a leg! Tammer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tammer manages to kick Hatterway off! Hatterway jumps back into Tammer's guard.
Hatterway wants to control from the top but Tammer keeps moving.

Hatterway has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hatterway postures up in Tammer's guard and throws a big left but Tammer blocks it.
Tammer keeping moving, preventing Hatterway from controlling successfully.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hatterway has gone for a leg lock! Tammer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hatterway's guard.

Hatterway has his feet on Tammer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Hatterway shoots in and bounces Tammer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Tammer wants to get back to his feet but Hatterway is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hatterway forces his way into half guard.
Hatterway seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Tammer wants to improve his position but Hatterway is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hatterway sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tammer defending well though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hatterway connects with a nice short shot to Tammer's temple.
Hatterway seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hatterway takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hatterway decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Hatterway takes the fight into the clinch.

Hatterway breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hatterway.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hatterway is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tammer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gene B Hatterway is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hatterway stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Tammer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hatterway manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hatterway drives through with a takedown into Tammer's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hatterway controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hatterway advances to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gene B Hatterway comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hatterway has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
