Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baby Dick Jimmy!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jimmy throws a push kick but Silva slaps the foot to one side.
Silva misses with a two punch combination.

Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jimmy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jimmy can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Silva thows a huge punch but Jimmy dodges it nicely.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jimmy is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silva is stalling here. Jimmy is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jimmy has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Jimmy throws a lazy head kick

and Silva counters by clinching up.
Silva blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva throws a series of punches but Jimmy avoids them all with ease.
Silva throws a head kick that misses.

Silva closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jimmy did well to prevent Silva getting side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva throws a strike but Jimmy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Silva wants to control from the top but Jimmy keeps moving.

Silva has gone for a leg lock! Jimmy slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silva's guard.
Jimmy wants to get up but he can't break Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silva manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Silva has managed to clinch.
Jimmy wants to get back to striking at distance but Silva won't allow it.
Jimmy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jimmy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jimmy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jimmy has escaped and now he's on top!

Jimmy wants to get up but he can't break Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Silva swings around for an armbar but Jimmy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.

Silva pushes Jimmy off and scrambles back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silva misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jimmy throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Silva throws a series of punches but Jimmy moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd cheers as Silva lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jimmy doesn't seem phased though.

Silva goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jimmy rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silva's guard! Nice work there by Jimmy!
Jimmy wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.

Silva has his foot on Jimmy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jimmy works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva feints a jab promting Jimmy to slip. Silva then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jimmy slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jimmy's guard.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Jimmy is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

and Silva counters with a three punch combo that has Jimmy backing up. Jimmy nods at Silva to acknowledge the strikes.

Silva is trying to trip Jimmy. He has hold of a leg but Jimmy is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Silva persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jimmy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva won't allow Jimmy to get back to his feet.
