Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bill Shadow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Forbes!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forbes throws a poor cross that misses
and Shadow counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Edward Forbes has been cut.

Forbes tries to sprawl but Shadow drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shadow is looking to take a break and control but Forbes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Shadow is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Shadow not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Forbes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Forbes on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Shadow with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shadow prevents Forbes from improving his position.
Shadow thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shadow takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Shadow is working for a kimura but Forbes is defending it quite comfortably.
Shadow seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shadow not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shadow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forbes keeps working.

Shadow is working for a kimura but Forbes is defending it quite comfortably.
Shadow drops an elbow to the side of Forbes's head.
Shadow seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Shadow is looking to advance position but Forbes won't allow it.
Forbes is trying to stand back up but Shadow is controlling him

Shadow perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Shadow working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Forbes taking some punishment here, with Shadow in his half guard.
Shadow thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Forbes's head.
Shadow is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Forbes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shadow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shadow content just to control the position here.
Shadow has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Shadow connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

In his post fight interview, Bill Shadow started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
