PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christos Piliapas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Ore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mathew Ore!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ore misses with a takedown attempt
and Piliapas finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Piliapas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ore to the mat! Ore manages to get full guard.

Ore had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Piliapas defends it easily.

Piliapas forces his way into half guard.
Ore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Piliapas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ore defends it well.

Ore is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Piliapas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Piliapas decides to stand and escape the position.

Piliapas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ore on his heels. He'll look to pass Ore's guard now, I'm sure.

Ore really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Piliapas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Piliapas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ore for as long as he can get away with.

Ore looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Piliapas passes into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Piliapas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Piliapas uses his free foot to push down on Ore's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ore.

Piliapas get's back to his feet.
Piliapas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ore tries to avoid it but Piliapas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ore to the ground. Ore escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ore tries to sprawl but Piliapas drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Piliapas decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Piliapas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ore is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Piliapas has latched onto it... Big trouble! Piliapas pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Ore is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Piliapas!
