Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Claremont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Raty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Claremont has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Claremont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seppo Raty!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Claremont drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Claremont connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Raty some visible discomfort.
Raty is letting Claremont control him for a moment.
Raty takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Raty can't do much from the bottom here.
Raty is working to avoid the ground and pound but Claremont connects with a decent elbow.
Raty tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Raty throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Raty is looking for a sweep.
Raty is letting Claremont control him for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Raty's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Claremont tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Claremont has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Raty wants to control but Claremont postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Claremont moves out of range of the leg kick from Raty.
Raty fails to land with a series of punches.
Raty swinging wilding here.
Raty connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Claremont's hands.
Claremont pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Claremont misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Claremont shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Raty as he jumps to the side.
Claremont is breathing heavily.
Raty tries to close the distance and clinch up but Claremont swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Raty tries a head kick but it misses.
Raty misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Raty throws a series of punches but Claremont avoids them all with ease.
Claremont lands a nice looking body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Claremont shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Claremont showed some decent athleticism there.

Claremont postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Raty to stand up.
Claremont is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Claremont tries to clinch
and Raty counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Claremont shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Raty tries to hold on but Claremont pushes him away.
Claremont looking to control and managing it successfully.

Raty really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Claremont can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raty is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raty tries to lock up and control but Claremont gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Claremont changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Raty tries to avoid it but Claremont manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Raty to the ground. Raty escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Claremont tries to clinch but Raty is having none of it.

and Claremont counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Raty!
A nice elbow there by Claremont.
Claremont tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Raty keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Raty manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Claremont scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Raty looks like he's trying to stand up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Claremont connects with a nice short shot to Raty's temple.

Claremont is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Raty defends it well.

Raty is trying to control but can't.
Claremont working over Raty with some ground and pound. Raty looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Claremont lands strikes from half guard.
Raty is looking to control Claremont's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Raty avoid being mounted?
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Claremont lands a nice short elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Claremont not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Claremont thows a huge punch but Raty dodges it nicely.

Claremont decides to return to a standing position.
Raty throws a head kick but Claremont moves out of range.
Claremont fails with the takedown.
Claremont fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Claremont. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Raty closes the distance but Claremont moves to the side
and Claremont counters with a left and a right that stings Raty.
Matt Claremont seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Claremont can't do much from the bottom here.

Raty is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Claremont is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Raty misses with the ground and pound.
Claremont manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Claremont is trying to stand up here but Raty is controlling him well.
Claremont is trying to get back to full guard.
Raty is looking to advance position but Claremont won't allow it.
Raty trying to control from half guard but Claremont is working away.
Claremont slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Raty wants to pass the guard but Claremont is keeping the position.
Raty trying to control the position from guard on top but Claremont is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Matt Claremont overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Claremont is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Claremont will probably get the nod.
That's time! Claremont's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Raty throws a combination. Claremont tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Claremont takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Claremont counters with a nice double leg into side control. Raty won't be happy with that.
Raty can't do much from the bottom here.

Raty manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Raty moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Claremont trying to control the position from guard on top but Raty is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Raty is looking to stand up but Claremont isn't so interested in that idea.
Claremont pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Raty is keeping the position for now.
Raty keeping moving, preventing Claremont from controlling successfully.
Raty is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Claremont is holding on to half guard well.

Claremont makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Matt Claremont is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Raty decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Claremont's guard.
Seppo Raty has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Claremont stuns Raty with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Claremont closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Claremont breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Raty misses with a low kick as Claremont jumps back.

Claremont closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Claremont lands in his opponent's guard.
Raty looking to hit a scissor sweep but Claremont is one step ahead there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Claremont stands up and waves to Raty to follow him.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Seppo Raty.
I think Claremont has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
