The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Skiles.
The referee asks Skiles politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Skiles prefers to stall for the moment though.
Spanish knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Skiles on the ground.

Skiles decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Spanish throws out a powerful jab.

It looks like Jason Skiles has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Skiles throws a head kick but Spanish moves out of range.

Skiles shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Spanish wants to get back to his feet.
Skiles throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Skiles decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Spanish stuffs the takedown attempt from Skiles. Skiles gets slowly back to his feet.
Skiles uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Spanish.
Ricky Spanish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Skiles misses with a wild body shot.
Skiles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Spanish circles away.
Skiles is trying hard to land a takedown here. Spanish sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ricky Spanish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Skiles.
Spanish connects with a body shot that sends Skiles's belly button to the back.
Skiles looks winded!

Spanish feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Skiles sprawling to the canvas! Skiles rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Spanish finish him?!
