Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Split Fire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rashad Evens has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rashad Evens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Split Fire!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evens looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fire circles away from the clinch attempt.
Evens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Fire fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fire tries to clinch but Evens moves out of range.
Evens slaps away a takedown attempt from Fire, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fire jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Evens shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fire is trying to defend but Evens finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Evens is thwarting Fire's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fire punching from the bottom.

Fire trying to control but Evens postures up.
Evens not doing much here.
Evens wants to pass the guard but Fire is defending well.
Fire trying to hold on to Evens's head to control him but Evens postures up.
Evens content to control rather than advance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fire tries to close the distance and clinch but Evens swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fire ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fire shoots in for a takedown but Evens shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fire misses with a takedown attempt - Evens sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rashad Evens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Split Fire.
Evens keeps the fight on the outside.
Fire fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Evens.
Fire fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Fire leaves Evens with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Fire drives through and clinches with Evens against the cage.
Evens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Evens's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Fire wants a takedown but no success here.
Fire looks winded!
Evens looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Evens wants to get back to striking at distance but Fire won't allow it.

Fire successfully pulls guard.
Evens wants to control from the top but Fire keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Evens is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Evens trying to control but Fire is working from the bottom.
Evens content to stall in guard here.

We're going to have a standup here because Rashad Evens wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Fire goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Evens tries a head kick but it misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fire.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Split Fire will probably get the nod.

Fire with a poor takedown
and Evens counters with a head kick. That will keep Fire thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Fire clinches.
Fire fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Evens tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fire avoids it.
A head punch on the inside from Evens fails to land.

Fire breaks from the clinch.
Fire shoots for a double leg takedown but Evens sprawls well. He's pushed Fire's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rashad Evens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Split Fire.

Evens darts in and clinches Fire up against the cage.
Evens lands an elbow just above Fire 's eye.
Fire wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fire tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Evens just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fire is breathing heavily.
Evens wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fire keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Evens's efforts to push away.

Fire jumps guard but Evens turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Evens tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fire just stands there and leans against the cage.

Evens's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Evens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fire as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Evens or perhaps it was just good defense by Fire which made him look bad.

Fire fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Evens, pushing him back against the cage.
Evens is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Fire is keeping busy.
Evens is trying to pull guard but Fire turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Fire tries to pull guard but Evens forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Fire ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fire no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Fire working a defensive guard here.
Evens tries to free his leg and advance position but Fire is retaining full guard.
Evens wants to control from the top but Fire keeps moving.
Evens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fire swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fire trying to keep a closed guard but Evens is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fire shoots in looking for a takedown but Evens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fire's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Fire. No joy for Evens on that attempt.
Fire doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Evens counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Evens shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fire sprawls well. Fire wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Evens gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Evens.
Fire shoots in looking for a takedown. Evens tries to sprawl out of it but Fire keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Evens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Evens closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Evens is trying to control. Fire wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Fire won't allow Evens to pass to mount.
Fire is looking to control Evens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fire avoid being mounted?

Evens stands up out of the half guard.
Evens throws a body kick that misses.
Evens shoots in for a takedown but Fire shows good takedown defense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fire tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Evens looks for a takedown but Fire sprawls well.
Evens swats away the attempt to clinch by Fire.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Evens dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Horrible takedown by Fire or perhaps it was just good defense by Evens which made him look bad.
Fire misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Evens changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fire tries to avoid it but Evens manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fire to the ground. Fire escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fire shoots in and drives through. Evens sprawls well.
Fire throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Evens throws a leg kick but Fire sees it coming and moves out of range.
Fire fails with a takedown attempt.
Rashad Evens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Split Fire.

Evens clinches up with Fire and pushes him back against the cage.
Fire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fire can't get the takedown.

Evens pulls guard.
Evens has his hands on Fire's head, controlling the position.

Evens isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Fire stacks Evens on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fire!
Fire tries to move to full mount but Evens actually manages to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Evens tries to get to full guard but Fire has control of the leg.
Evens regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Fire.
Evens working a defensive guard but Fire manages to pass into side control anyway.
Evens is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evens gets back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Fire seems content to control.
Fire stops Evens from getting back to his feet.
Fire is looking to stall here but Evens recovers full guard.
Fire wants to stand but Evens has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Evens pulls Fire in close to his closed guard and prevents Fire from doing any damage or advancing position.
Evens manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fire sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fire is trying to maintain the position but Evens is very close to passing his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rashad Evens.
I think Evens has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
