Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin thuds a left hand into Howard's body.
Putin scores with a kick to the body.
Howard takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Putin has Howard up against the cage in a clinch.
Howard is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Putin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Howard could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Howard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Putin pulls his leg out and moves away.
Putin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Howard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Putin in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Putin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Putin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Howard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Howard and Putin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Putin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee asks Putin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Putin prefers to stall for the moment though.

What's Howard going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Howard manages to get back to half guard.

Putin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Howard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Howard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Howard tries to pull guard but Putin holds him up against the cage and eventually Howard drops back down to his feet.

Howard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Putin controls the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Putin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Howard down.
