Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Amran Aliyev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Van De Velde!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van De Velde throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Van De Velde fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Van De Velde looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Aliyev circles away from the clinch attempt.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Van De Velde enables Aliyev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van De Velde manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Aliyev throws an elbow but Van De Velde slips to the side and avoids it well.
Aliyev postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Aliyev is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Van De Velde looks calm but he's in trouble here. Aliyev gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Van De Velde is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Aliyev lets go of the hold and Van De Velde can pop his arm back in it's socket.
