PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Cardozo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Cashman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Cashman!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardozo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cashman slaps away a takedown attempt from Cardozo, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cashman moves into the clinch.

Cashman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cardozo uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cashman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cardozo swivels and escapes.
Horrible takedown by Cashman or perhaps it was just good defense by Cardozo which made him look bad.
Cashman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cardozo doesn't manage to clinch there - Cashman circles away.
Cashman takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Cardozo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cashman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cardozo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cashman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Cardozo can't keep his opponent in guard - Cashman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's time! Cardozo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cashman shoots in looking for a takedown. Cardozo tries to sprawl out of it but Cashman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cardozo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cardozo closes the distance and clinches up with Cashman, looking for a takedown. Cardozo pushes Cashman against the cage but Cashman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cardozo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cardozo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cashman is working for a kimura but Cardozo is defending it quite comfortably.

Well, if Cashman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cashman shoots in for a takedown but Cardozo shows good takedown defense.
Cardozo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cashman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cardozo somewhat.
Cashman shoots in looking for a takedown but Cardozo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cashman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cashman shoots in and drives through. Cardozo sprawls well.
Cashman bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Cashman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cardozo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cashman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Craig Cashman wasn't active enough on the ground.

Cashman gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Cashman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cashman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cardozo is one step ahead there.
Cardozo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cardozo tries to stand but Cashman is controlling his head.

Cardozo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cashman keeps working.
Cashman tries to bench press Cardozo off him but Cardozo keeps the position.
Cardozo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cashman's shoulder. That is not cool.
Cashman can't do much from the bottom here.
Cardozo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Cashman looks to move to half guard but instead Cardozo has passed into mount! Damn!

Cashman wants to control but Cardozo is having none of it.
Cashman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cashman tries to hold on but Cardozo postures up.

Cardozo stands up from mount. Strange move.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cashman shoots in but Cardozo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cashman shoots for a double leg takedown but Cardozo sprawls well. He's pushed Cashman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Craig Cashman.
Well Cashman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
