Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corey Birthday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joni Betoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Birthday kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Happy Birthday Mr President. Betoni comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Vinnie Paz - Brick Wall kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Joni Betoni told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Betoni throws out a powerful jab.
It looks like Corey Birthday has been cut.
Birthday takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Betoni throws out a leg kick but Birthday moves out of range and Betoni only half commits.

and Birthday cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Betoni jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Birthday slips under a jab from Betoni.
Birthday comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Birthday chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Betoni can pounce on him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Birthday shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Betoni's guard.
Betoni has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Birthday has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Betoni manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Birthday manages to get himself to full guard.

Betoni paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Birthday - great work!
