Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suezo Angelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Suezo Angelo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Angelo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Smirnov quickly recovers to half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Angelo is trying to control the action in half guard but Smirnov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Angelo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Angelo wants to take a breather but Smirnov is having none of it.
Angelo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smirnov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Suezo Angelo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Angelo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smirnov is fending him off so far but Angelo persists. Nope, Smirnov circles away and we're back to standing.
Angelo shoots in for a double leg but Smirnov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Angelo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smirnov is breathing heavily.
Angelo wants to control but Smirnov is keeping him busy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Angelo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Smirnov gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Angelo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Smirnov looks a forlorn figure.
