Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Pony (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorges Valencia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Pony!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorges Valencia!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valencia keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pony has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pony there as he acknowledges the shot.
Pony has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Valencia finds it's way round the side to connect with Pony's head.


It looks like David Pony has been cut.
Pony misses with an uppercut
and Pony takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pony just misses with a punch to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Pony.
Pony scores with a nice head shot.
Pony fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pony is defended easily by Valencia.
Pony wants to clinch
and Valencia counters with a nice uppercut.

Pony fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pony misses with a right hand
and Valencia counters with a two punch combo.
Pony throws a left and a right that both miss
and Valencia counters with a left and a right that stings Pony.
David Pony seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pony misses with a low kick as Valencia jumps back.
Pony fails with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pony looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Valencia looks to land a combination but Pony avoids it well.
Pony motions for Valencia to come forward. Pony throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Valencia lands a body shot.
Pony shoots in for a takedown but Valencia shows good takedown defense.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pony throws a wild body kick that Valencia sees coming a mile off.
Pony dives in and grabs Valencia's left leg, looking for a takedown. Valencia pushes down on Pony's head and hops out.
Valencia takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Pony throws a series of punches but Valencia avoids them all with ease.

Valencia digs a good body shot into Pony's ribs.
Pony throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Pony closes the distance and clinches up with Valencia, looking for a takedown. Pony pushes Valencia against the cage but Valencia circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pony misses with an uppercut
enabling Valencia to counter with a crisp jab.
Valencia showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pony.
Pony takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Valencia throws a right hand that Pony ducks under and follows up with a left that Pony also avoids with ease.
Pony misses with a looping right.
Pony swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pony tries to clinch there but Valencia circles away.
Danga de danga de dang - Valencia scores with a four punch combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pony misses with a straight right.
Valencia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pony throws a series of punches but Valencia moves out of range.
Pony tries to close the distance and clinch but Valencia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorges Valencia dominated that round.
The cut man is working on David Pony's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Valencia counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Pony closes the distance and clinches.

Valencia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Valencia digs a good body shot into Pony's ribs.
Pony swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Valencia counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jorges Valencia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pony works Valencia's body with a nice hook.
Pony misses with a leg kick.

Pony takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pony tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Valencia was well out of range. Poor timing from Pony.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Pony. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Valencia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pony circles away quickly and effectively.
Pony tries to close the distance and clinch but Valencia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Valencia takes a jab right on the kisser.
Valencia lands a jab to Pony's midsection.
Valencia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pony closes the distance looking to clinch
and Pony takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pony moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jorges Valencia seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pony shoots in but no luck this time.

Valencia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Valencia misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pony is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Valencia pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Pony with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Pony keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Valencia's efforts to push away.
Valencia has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Pony keeps control of Valencia as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Valencia is trying to break the clinch but Pony is controlling him.
Valencia has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Pony keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Valencia's efforts to push away.

Valencia wants to get back to striking at distance but Pony won't allow it.
A frustrated look appears on Valencia's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pony creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Valencia wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pony's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Jorges Valencia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Pony is looking to score with low kicks.
Pony looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Valencia is fending him off so far but Pony persists. Nope, Valencia circles away and we're back to standing.
Valencia bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Valencia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pony ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Valencia moves away.
Valencia scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Pony shoots for a double leg takedown but Valencia sprawls well. He's pushed Pony's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Valencia moves out of range as Pony strikes.
Pony shoots in looking for a takedown but Valencia manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pony's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Pony. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pony tries to clinch but Valencia is having none of it.
Valencia cracks Pony with a right hand to the side of the head.

Pony gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Valencia is trying to force a seperation but Pony has the dominant position.
Valencia wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pony is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Valencia is defending well.
Pony's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Valencia wants to get back to striking at distance but Pony won't allow it.
Pony has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Valencia avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Pony misses with a body punch.

Pony pulls Valencia into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Valencia wants to stand and escape but instead Pony has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Pony tries to free his leg and advance position but Valencia is retaining full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Valencia wants to stand up but Pony is controlling him.
Pony engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Valencia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pony doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pony manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pony throws a big right hand that misses.
Pony trying to control but Valencia is working from the bottom.
Valencia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pony. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Valencia preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pony controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
David Pony has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Pony.
Pony throws a hook but Valencia blocks it.

Valencia tries to keep at a distance but Pony has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pony is trying to drag Valencia to the mat but Valencia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pony trying to stall but Valencia improves his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to David Pony.
I think Valencia has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
