Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Twist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov throws a push kick but Twist slaps the foot to one side.
Smirnov throws the kick towards the body but Twist avoids it.
Smirnov throws a head kick but Twist moves out of range.

Smirnov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Twist did well to prevent Smirnov getting side control.
Smirnov content to control rather than advance.
Smirnov wants to free his trapped foot but Twist is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Twist knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smirnov on the ground.

Smirnov lands with a kick to the temple. Twist shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smirnov circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Smirnov counters with a two punch combo.

Twist takes one to the side of the head.
Smirnov throws a right and a left that Twist avoids nicely.
Twist moves to clinch but Smirnov breaks away
and Smirnov counters with a stiff right hand.
Smirnov misses with a double jab.
Smirnov keeps the fight on the outside.
Smirnov throws a sloppy head kick
and Twist counters with a head kick.
Smirnov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Smirnov lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Twist tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smirnov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smirnov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smirnov showed some decent athleticism there.
Smirnov looks winded!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smirnov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Smirnov stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Twist to get to his feet.
Twist tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smirnov swivels and escapes.
Twist tries to clinch but Smirnov moves out of range.

Smirnov has managed to clinch.
Smirnov is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Smirnov keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Twist's efforts to push away.

Twist breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smirnov throws a series of punches but Twist avoids them all with ease.

Smirnov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Twist, pushing him back against the cage.

Smirnov looks to land a combination but Twist avoids it well.
Smirnov lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Twist tries to close the distance and clinch but Smirnov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Smirnov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Twist looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Smirnov is trying to get an arm triangle but Twist is defending well.
Twist tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smirnov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Smirnov looks up at the clock and then as Twist takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Smirnov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Twist wants to control but Smirnov postures up.
Twist prevents Smirnov from improving position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Smirnov tries for a kimura but Twist is defending well.

Smirnov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Smirnov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Twist knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smirnov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smirnov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smirnov cracks Twist with a right hand to the side of the head.
Smirnov avoids the head kick by Twist.
Smirnov connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Smirnov gets through Twist's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Smirnov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Smirnov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Smirnov manages to break the clinch.

Smirnov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Smirnov in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Twist tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Smirnov!
