Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between VJ Kiwi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evander Mackenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiwi comes to the ring accompanied by Redlight - Get Out My Head. Evander Mackenzie will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, VJ Kiwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Evander Mackenzie!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackenzie tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Kiwi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mackenzie won't be happy with that.

Kiwi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mackenzie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mackenzie throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Kiwi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kiwi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mackenzie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kiwi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kiwi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mackenzie sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kiwi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mackenzie can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kiwi lands a heavy elbow.

Mackenzie is squirming around, avoiding Kiwi's attempts to control the action.
Mackenzie wants to control but Kiwi is having none of it.

Kiwi is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Kiwi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). VJ Kiwi!
After the fight, VJ Kiwi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
