Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ortega clinches up with Spike and pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Ortega's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ortega is trying to push Spike away but Spike has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Ortega tries to break free but Spike pushes him back against the cage.
Spike drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ortega is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Ortega has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Spike is trying to drag Ortega to the mat but Ortega just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Juan Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Spike.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Spike has eaten all the pies!

Ortega wants to get back to striking at distance but Spike won't allow it.
Spike wants to take the fight to the mat but Ortega manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Ortega wants to break free but Spike has control.
Spike goes for a takedown attempt but Ortega pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A nice combination there by Ortega.

It looks like Robert Spike has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ortega lands with a shot to the body.
Spike looks winded!
Ortega throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spike.
Spike takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ortega pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Spike back to the cage. Ortega follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ortega feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Spike sprawling to the canvas! Spike rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ortega finish him?!
Ortega closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Spike out cold! Spike corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
