Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Liam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Corrigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Liam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Corrigan!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liam shoots in for a takedown but Corrigan shows good takedown defense.
Liam with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Liam fails with the takedown.
Liam shoots in looking for a takedown. Corrigan tries to sprawl out of it but Liam keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Corrigan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Corrigan throws a head kick that misses
and Liam counters with a left to the body.
Corrigan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Corrigan somewhat.

Liam jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corrigan walks away with a smile on his face. Liam gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Liam swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Liam slaps away a takedown attempt from Corrigan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Corrigan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liam paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Corrigan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liam, pushing him back against the cage.
Corrigan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Liam breaks the clinch.

Corrigan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Corrigan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Liam to the ground. Corrigan is now in Liam's guard.

Jake Corrigan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Liam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Corrigan wants to clinch
and Liam counters with an outside leg kick.
Liam shoots for a double leg takedown but Corrigan sprawls well. He's pushed Liam's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Liam tries to clinch but Corrigan moves out of range.

Corrigan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Liam to keep the fight standing.

Corrigan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Liam is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Corrigan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Corrigan's back!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Corrigan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Corrigan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Liam!

Corrigan cracks Liam with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Corrigan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well Corrigan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
