PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saul I Saullas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saullas comes into the arena with Conjure One - Pandora blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in and bounces Saullas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Saullas is retaining full guard.
Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Johnson passes Saullas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Johnson wants to stand up but Saullas is controlling the position.

It looks like Johnson is going to stand back up.
Saullas won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.
Saullas wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Johnson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Saullas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Saullas manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Saullas's guard.
Saullas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.

Johnson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Saullas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.

Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Saullas is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.

Saullas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Saullas has momentary wrist control but Johnson slips an elbow through the middle.

Johnson gets to his feet - Saullas follows without any prompting.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
Saullas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Johnson showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson wants to stand up but Saullas is controlling the position.

Johnson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Saullas sees it coming and defends easily.
Saullas looks like he's trying to stand up.

Johnson is looking for a kimura here.

Saullas tries to lock up and control but Johnson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Saullas tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.
