Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andy Dwyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Hobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dwyer comes to the cage accompanied by Dave Matthews Band - You Might Die Trying. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Dwyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitchell Hobson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dwyer misses with a wild combination.
Dwyer scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Andy Dwyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hobson.
Dwyer throws a shot from downtown. Hobson moves away and avoids it.
Dwyer looks to land a combination but Hobson avoids it well.
Hobson moves in looking to clinch but Dwyer pushes him off.
Hobson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dwyer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hobson.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dwyer rushes Hobson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dwyer misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Dwyer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hobson moves out of range of the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hobson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hobson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dwyer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dwyer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hobson. Hobson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Dwyer lands with a shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hobson throws a leg kick but Dwyer sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Dwyer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hobson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dwyer.
Dwyer moves in looking to clinch but Hobson pushes him off.
Hobson doesn't manage to clinch there - Dwyer circles away.
Hobson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hobson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hobson gets tackled into the cage by Dwyer. Dwyer maintains the clinch.

Hobson successfully pulls guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Dwyer sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Dwyer trying to control the position from guard on top but Hobson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dwyer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dwyer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hobson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dwyer has managed to get both his arms back between Hobson's legs - danger averted.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Andy Dwyer just wasn't active enough.
Dwyer misses with a two punch combination.
Dwyer fails to land with a series of punches.
Hobson tries to clinch up but Dwyer circles away and keeps his distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dwyer looks to land a combination. Hobson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Dwyer tries to bum rush Hobson with a series of wild strikes but Hobson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dwyer stuns Hobson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Dwyer swats away the attempt to clinch by Hobson.

Hobson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dwyer wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dwyer is stalling here.
Hobson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dwyer's elbow.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Hobson.

Hobson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Andy Dwyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitchell Hobson.
Hobson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hobson looking to stall.

Dwyer breaks the clinch.
Dwyer circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hobson moves away from the strike by Dwyer.
Hobson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dwyer.
Dwyer swats away the attempt to clinch by Hobson.
Hobson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hobson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dwyer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A looping hook to the body misses from Dwyer. Hobson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hobson doesn't manage to clinch there - Dwyer circles away.
Dwyer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hobson wants to clinch up but Dwyer keeps it at a distance.
Hobson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dwyer avoids it really well and circles away.
A jab lands there for Dwyer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hobson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Dwyer drops Hobson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hobson looks back up at him and smiles so Dwyer waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Hobson is rocked!

Dwyer dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Hobson has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Andy Dwyer!
Andy Dwyer seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
