PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adam Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bubba Johnson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moore looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Johnson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Moore wants to free his trapped foot but Johnson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moore wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
Johnson is doing well to control the position and prevent Moore from advancing to side control.
Moore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Johnson is looking to control Moore's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moore changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Moore manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Johnson scores with a leg kick.
Moore circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moore moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.
Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Moore.

Johnson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Moore wants to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Johnson seems content to control.
Moore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bubba Johnson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Johnson gets caught flat footed, as Moore shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moore postures up.
Moore trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Moore sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Moore looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Moore trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Moore looking for a sweep. Not yet Moore, not yet.
Johnson tries to stand but Moore is controlling from the bottom.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Moore is keeping the position.
Johnson advances position into side control!

Moore tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Moore is pushing Johnson's head away, looking to escape. Johnson manages to hold on to the position though.
Johnson throws an elbow but Moore slips to the side and avoids it well.

Johnson is trying to get an arm triangle but Moore is defending well.
Moore tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bubba Johnson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Moore, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Moore tries a head kick but it misses.
Adam Moore is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moore shoots in but no luck this time.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Moore manages to get underhooks.
A short uppercut from Moore.
Moore is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Moore down to the mat. Moore avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Moore misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Moore shows good takedown defense.
Adam Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bubba Johnson.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson wants to clinch.

Moore tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.
Johnson throws a series of strikes that have Moore backpedaling.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Moore shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Johnson stuffs the takedown.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Moore tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Moore manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Moore.

Moore clinches.
Johnson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Moore to keep the fight standing.
Moore working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Moore stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Johnson working hard to break the clinch.
Moore is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Johnson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Johnson dives in and grabs Moore's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moore pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out.

Moore closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.

Johnson keeping full guard, as Moore tries to pass.
Moore advances to half guard.
Moore is pressing down on Johnson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Johnson is holding on for now.
Moore looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Johnson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Moore wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Ground and pound from Moore.

Moore not doing much here.
Johnson is refusing to be controlled, as Moore sits in half guard.
Moore not doing much here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Moore landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Moore wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Moore manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Johnson on his heels. He'll look to pass Johnson's guard now, I'm sure.

Moore stands up from Johnson's guard - Moore perhaps looking for a knockout.
Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moore's waist but Moore gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Moore circles away.
Moore stalks Johnson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Johnson's face. Johnson staggers backwards, shaken.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Johnson.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Moore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adam Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bubba Johnson.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moore as he jumps to the side.

Moore avoids the head kick by Johnson.

Moore scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Moore stalling.

Moore decides to stand and escape the position.

Moore closes the distance and clinches.
Moore is trying to break free.
Moore's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Moore gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Moore breaks the clinch.
Johnson tries to clinch up but Moore circles away and keeps his distance.
Moore fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Moore connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Johnson momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moore rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Johnson can't get the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore is looking for a takedown.
Johnson jumps guard but Moore stands there with Johnson around his waist. Johnson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Moore tries to work over Johnson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Moore goes for a takedown in the clinch but Johnson prevents it.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Moore manages to get underhooks.
Johnson looking to stall.
Moore is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Johnson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnson effectively controlling the action here.

Moore is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Moore seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Moore's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Moore fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Moore tries to score with a low kick but Johnson moves his leg out of the way.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson avoids the head kick by Moore.

Adam Moore showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Moore has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
