Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Rommel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Jones looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucas Rommel!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Rommel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Some wild striking there from Rommel.
Rommel lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rommel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rommel misses with a series of wild punches.
Rommel feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rommel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Rommel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rommel scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Rommel listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Some wild striking there from Rommel.
Rommel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rommel blocks the body kick.
Lucas Rommel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rommel's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Jon Jones will probably get the nod.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Rommel, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Rommel against the cage but Rommel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rommel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rommel lands a body shot.
Rommel lands a two punch combo.
Rommel fails with an attempt to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Rommel.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rommel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Rommel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rommel moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rommel tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rommel to the ground. Rommel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jon Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rommel stuffs the takedown.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rommel as he jumps to the side.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Rommel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rommel circles away.
Rommel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rommel misses with a wild combination.
Rommel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Rommel slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rommel misses with a head kick.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rommel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
Rommel misses with the combination.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rommel as he avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rommel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Rommel tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Rommel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rommel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Some wild striking there from Rommel.
Jones shoots for a takedown but Rommel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rommel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rommel misses with a few strikes there.

Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Rommel tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
Rommel misses with a hook from the clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones wants to take the fight to the mat but Rommel manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Rommel can't break the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Rommel throws an elbow but misses.

Jones jumps guard.
Rommel wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Jones kicks Rommel off and gets to his feet.
Rommel leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rommel but Rommel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rommel moves into range and connects with a jab.
Jones dives in and grabs Rommel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rommel pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Rommel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones has Rommel pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rommel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jones is looking for a takedown.
Rommel trying to stall but Jones improves his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones drags the fight down to the ground.
Jones pulls Rommel in to control the position.

Rommel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rommel won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Rommel tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rommel defends well.
Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rommel!

Jon Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
