The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Alvarez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fighters circling - Davies throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Alvarez gets to his feet - Davies follows without any prompting.

Davies has managed to clinch.
Davies goes for a takedown attempt but Alvarez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Alvarez throws a head kick that half lands.
Davies cracks Alvarez with a right hand to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Davies throws a hook but Alvarez avoids it easily.
A head kick from Alvarez lands but Davies takes it in his stride.

It looks like Ashley Davies has been cut.

Alvarez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davies was covering up waiting for the punch and Alvarez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alvarez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Davies's head.

Alvarez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Davies is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alvarez, into his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Davies got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alvarez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davies has managed to get both his arms back between Alvarez's legs - danger averted.

Alvarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davies defends well.

Alvarez has his feet on Davies's thighs here. He's pushed Davies off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Davies screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
