PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zombo Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ales Zhandunka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zhandunka has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zombo Axe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ales Zhandunka!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zhandunka swings for the body but Axe moves out of range.
Axe fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Zhandunka is out of range.
Zhandunka tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Axe was well out of range. Poor timing from Zhandunka.
Zhandunka slips under a jab from Axe.
Zhandunka connects with a good right hand that stumbles Axe. Axe circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Axe takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Axe throws a right hand that Zhandunka ducks under and follows up with a left that Zhandunka also avoids with ease.
Zhandunka takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Zhandunka checks a leg kick nicely.
Zhandunka uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Axe.
Axe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zhandunka swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Zhandunka works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Axe throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Zhandunka counters with a stiff right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zhandunka stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zhandunka scores with a jab. Axe acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Axe moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Axe is rocked!
Axe walks straight into a right hand from Zhandunka - that's dropped him! Zhandunka jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Axe from any more punishment! Axe complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
