Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renan Pegado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Stugatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Renan Pegado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paulo Stugatz!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stugatz misses with a body kick.

Stugatz looks to score with a jab to the body but Pegado is just out of range.
Pegado tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stugatz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Stugatz lands with a kick to the temple. Pegado shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Stugatz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pegado stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Stugatz sizes up Pegado with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd cheers as Stugatz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pegado doesn't seem phased though.
Stugatz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stugatz goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Pegado with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Stugatz to score with a decent uppercut.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stugatz throws a sloppy head kick and Pegado moves out of range easily.
Pegado drops his hands momentarily and Stugatz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Pegado might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Pegado tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stugatz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pegado somewhat.

Stugatz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

This has been an exciting period of action!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pegado seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Both fighters circling a little - Stugatz finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Paulo Stugatz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pegado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pegado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Stugatz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pegado gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pegado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stugatz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stugatz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stugatz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pegado!
Renan Pegado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pegado is trying desperately to improve position.
Stugatz lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pegado wants to control but Stugatz is having none of it.
Pegado is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Pegado wants to hold on but Stugatz pushes him away.

Stugatz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pegado is now in Stugatz's guard. A big mistake from Stugatz there, giving up the dominant position!

Pegado drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stugatz dives on top into guard.
Renan Pegado has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paulo Stugatz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pegado has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stugatz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paulo Stugatz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Stugatz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
