And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Gracie.
Smithwick gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Gracie has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Smithwick is trying to keep an underhook but Gracie manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but Smithwick defending well.
Gracie is taking a breather. Smithwick says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gracie content just to control the position here.
Smithwick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gracie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smithwick is trying to stand up.

Smithwick takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Gracie looking to control and managing it successfully.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smithwick wants to get back to his feet.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Smithwick is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smithwick is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Gracie locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Smithwick is forced to tap!

Asshole Gracie decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
