PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jojo Cunnings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jojo Cunnings was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cunnings stuffs the takedown.
Gonzalez shoots and misses
and Cunnings counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gonzalez thinking.
Cunnings leaves Gonzalez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cunnings bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gonzalez's guard.

Cunnings shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gonzalez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A punch lands to the side of Gonzalez 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Gonzalez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cunnings feints a jab promting Gonzalez to slip. Cunnings then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gonzalez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Cunnings lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Cunnings lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gonzalez backs up against the cage.

Cunnings cracks Gonzalez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Cunnings pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gonzalez back to the cage. Cunnings follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Gonzalez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown but Cunnings shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown by Cunnings or perhaps it was just good defense by Gonzalez which made him look bad.

Cunnings drops back looking for a leg! Gonzalez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gonzalez manages to kick Cunnings off! Cunnings jumps back into Gonzalez's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gonzalez tries to move into range but Cunnings moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Gonzalez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gonzalez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cunnings displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gonzalez.

Cunnings clobbers Gonzalez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cunnings defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gonzalez.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jojo Cunnings dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cunnings gets full guard.

Cunnings is looking to sinch up a triangle. Gonzalez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cunnings's body to avoid the submission. Cunnings has instead reached around Gonzalez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cunnings arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
