PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Scorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diogo Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duarte has chosen Dragon ball GT as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scorn is fending him off so far but Duarte persists. Nope, Scorn circles away and we're back to standing.
Scorn takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Duarte tries to clinch but Scorn moves out of range.

Scorn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Duarte as he jumps to the side.

and Duarte counters with a single leg into guard. Scorn didn't expect that.

Duarte is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Scorn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scorn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Duarte isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Scorn stacks Duarte on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Scorn!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scorn stands up and beckons Duarte to his feet.
Duarte takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Duarte tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scorn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Scorn fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scorn lands a nice looking kick to the body. Duarte takes a step back to recover.
Duarte moves to clinch but Scorn breaks away
and Duarte takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Scorn leaves Duarte with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Scorn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Scorn lands in his opponent's guard.

Scorn decides to stand and escape the position.

Scorn looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Duarte!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Scorn has control of an arm but Duarte manages to advance to Scorn's back!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duarte stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duarte looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scorn is fending him off so far but Duarte persists. Nope, Scorn circles away and we're back to standing.

Diogo Duarte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scorn connects with an inside leg kick.
Scorn stuffs the takedown.

Scorn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Duarte.

Scorn has Duarte up against the cage in a clinch.
Scorn misses with an elbow over the top.
Scorn lands a nice elbow.

and Scorn counters with a leg kick.
Scorn feints and then cracks Duarte's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Duarte down.
Scorn lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Duarte throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Duarte takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Duarte shoots in and drives through. Scorn sprawls well.
A nice leg kick lands there from Scorn.
Duarte tries to clinch but Scorn moves out of range.
Duarte shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scorn as he jumps to the side.
Duarte is breathing heavily.

Duarte tries to keep at a distance but Scorn has taken the fight into the clinch.
Scorn lands an elbow that stopped Duarte in his tracks for a moment.
Scorn scores with a knee to the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scorn creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Scorn wants the takedown. Duarte is fighting it off but Scorn persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Duarte's guard against the cage.

Scorn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Scorn distracts Duarte with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Duarte escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scorn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Scorn advances to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Scorn connects with a nice short shot to Duarte's temple.
Scorn scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Scorn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ryan Scorn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Scorn wants to work for an arm triangle but Duarte is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
