PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Henzel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keron Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The referee asks Henzel politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Henzel prefers to stall for the moment though.

Henzel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Douglas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Henzel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Henzel showed some decent athleticism there.

Douglas gets to his feet. Henzel looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Henzel connects with a leg kick. Douglas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Good leg kick by Henzel there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Henzel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
