PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Stryfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Roughneck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roughneck has chosen Roughest Neck Around - Corb Lund as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Stryfe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Les Roughneck!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Roughneck.
Roughneck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stryfe swivels and escapes.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Stryfe.
Roughneck avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stryfe clobbers Roughneck with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Roughneck looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stryfe is fending him off so far but Roughneck persists. Nope, Stryfe circles away and we're back to standing.
Nathan Stryfe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Les Roughneck.
Roughneck lands a nice looking body shot.
Roughneck fails with a takedown attempt.
Stryfe misses with the combination.
Stryfe throws a wild body kick that Roughneck sees coming a mile off.
Stryfe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A big right from Stryfe misses.
Stryfe misses with an uppercut. Roughneck saw that one coming.

Roughneck closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roughneck lands in his opponent's guard.
Roughneck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roughneck tries to get out of the position.

Roughneck drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Roughneck jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Roughneck postures up in Stryfe's guard and throws a big left but Stryfe blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roughneck throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stryfe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Roughneck looking to sit in guard and control but Stryfe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stryfe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stryfe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Roughneck has an active guard here but Stryfe has managed to pass into half guard.
Roughneck is trying to get back to full guard.
Stryfe not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roughneck wants to improve his position but Stryfe is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Roughneck moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Roughneck looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Roughneck tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stryfe trying to control but Roughneck is working from the bottom.

Stryfe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Stryfe trying to control the position from guard on top but Roughneck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stryfe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roughneck on the ground.
Roughneck wants to control the position but Stryfe says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stryfe stalling.
Roughneck tries to get to full guard but Stryfe has control of the leg.

Roughneck looking for submissions off his back.
Roughneck trying to control from the bottom.
Stryfe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roughneck keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stryfe shoots in but Roughneck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stryfe throws a right and a left that both miss.
Roughneck fails with the takedown

and Stryfe holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Roughneck wants a takedown.

Stryfe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stryfe throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Roughneck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stryfe but Stryfe pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Roughneck looks gassed!
Stryfe misses with a wild combination.

Stryfe has closed the distance and engaged Roughneck in a clinch.

Stryfe breaks the clinch.
The fighters circling - Stryfe throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stryfe throws a lazy right hand but Roughneck sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stryfe stuffs the takedown.
A good leg kick by Stryfe.

Stryfe moves into range and clinches up with Roughneck.
Stryfe wants a takedown.
Stryfe has Roughneck pressed against the cage.
Roughneck drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Stryfe wants the takedown. Roughneck is fighting it off but Stryfe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Roughneck's guard against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Roughneck has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Stryfe should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Roughneck has tightened it up now! Stryfe should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
