PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Kuntz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriel Amok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuntz comes to the cage accompanied by Check My Brain. Amok has chosen Devils as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rusty Kuntz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriel Amok!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amok throws an off balance right hand
and Kuntz counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Uriel Amok has been cut.
Kuntz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kuntz tries to clinch but Amok moves out of range.
Amok slips under a jab.
A chopping leg kick lands by Amok.
Amok lands a leg kick that knocks Kuntz off balance momentarily.
Nice shot lands for Kuntz.
Amok swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A slow jab from Amok misses its intended target.
Amok shoots in for a double leg but Kuntz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Amok closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kuntz's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Amok throws an elbow that misses. Kuntz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Amok's guard. Nice move by Kuntz!

Amok escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kuntz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Amok throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kuntz escapes and throws Amok's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Amok is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kuntz trying to control the action but Amok is working from the bottom.
Kuntz throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kuntz throws an elbow but Amok slips to the side and avoids it well.

Amok is looking to reverse the position.
Kuntz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amok keeps working.
Amok is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuntz slows the pace down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rusty Kuntz just wasn't active enough.
Kuntz lands a nice leg kick that just misses Amok's sensitive parts.

Amok lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A telegraphed right hand from Kuntz misses the target.
Kuntz throws a lazy right hand but Amok sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rusty Kuntz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab from Kuntz does it's job there.
Amok ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Amok uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kuntz.
Kuntz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kuntz tries to clinch there but Amok circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kuntz is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Amok scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rusty Kuntz will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kuntz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Amok throws a right and a left that Kuntz avoids nicely.

Amok misses with a body shot.
Amok fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kuntz manages to avoid it.
Kuntz pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Amok uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kuntz.
Kuntz on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Amok. Amok obviously looking to wear him down.
Kuntz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amok.
A punch lands to the side of Kuntz 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Amok turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kuntz walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Amok checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Uriel Amok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Amok misses with a straight left.
Amok steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kuntz. That one must have hurt.
Amok shoots in but Kuntz avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kuntz tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Amok misses with a hook. Kuntz ducked under it nicely.
Kuntz looks to land a left hand but Amok moved out of range nicely.

Amok closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Amok lands in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Amok accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kuntz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Amok throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kuntz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Rusty Kuntz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rusty Kuntz.
Kuntz throws a front kick aimed at Amok's knee but Amok avoids it well.
Amok will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Amok blocks a low kick nicely.
Kuntz ducks right into an uppercut from Amok.

Uriel Amok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kuntz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Amok swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kuntz.
Amok takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kuntz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Amok dips to his left and cracks Kuntz with an uppercut!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rusty Kuntz.
I think Kuntz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
