The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wethol slips under a jab.
Wethol bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Assman looks to land a right hand but Wethol moved out of range.
Wethol shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Assman pinned against the cage. Assman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Assman throws a shot from downtown. Wethol moves away and avoids it.
Wethol fails to land the takedown.
Wethol slips under a jab.
Wethol keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Assman.
Assman throws a lazy right hand but Wethol sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Assman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Brett Assman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calvin Wethol.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wethol misses with a low kick.
Assman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wethol.
Good shot there by Assman.
The crowd cheers as Assman lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wethol doesn't seem phased though.

The fighters circling - Assman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Assman throws out a loose jab but Wethol uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wethol slips under a jab from Assman.
Assman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Assman misses with an uppercut. Wethol saw that one coming.
Wethol shoots in but no luck this time.
Wethol misses the shot to the body.
Assman tests Wethol's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wethol walks straight into a right hand from Assman - that's dropped him! Assman jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Wethol from any more punishment! Wethol complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
