Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karlos Mendieta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larenzo Moritini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karlos Mendieta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Larenzo Moritini!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moritini shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mendieta manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Moritini throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mendieta is trying to control the position but Moritini postures up.
Moritini slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mendieta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moritini on the ground.
Mendieta regains half guard, as Moritini was trying to land strikes.
Mendieta is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mendieta wants to improve his position but Moritini is controlling well.

Moritini is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Moritini gets to his feet. Mendieta looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Moritini.

Moritini shoots in looking for a takedown but Mendieta manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moritini's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Moritini misses with a takedown attempt - Mendieta sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Moritini stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendieta. Mendieta gets slowly back to his feet.
Moritini tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendieta sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Moritini somewhat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mendieta tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Larenzo Moritini was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Moritini is looking to sinch up a triangle. Mendieta throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Moritini's body to avoid the submission. Moritini has instead reached around Mendieta's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Moritini arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
