With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryu Hyabusa!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyabusa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Hyabusa circles away.
Hyabusa throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Hyabusa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hyabusa pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hyabusa has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hyabusa looks like he's trying to stand up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hyabusa won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.

Hyabusa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Johnson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Hyabusa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hyabusa manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Hyabusa's guard.
Hyabusa wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hyabusa can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hyabusa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson prevents Hyabusa from standing back up.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Hyabusa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hyabusa misses with a double jab.
Hyabusa throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.
Hyabusa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice defenses there by Johnson.
Hyabusa clinches but Johnson breaks the clinch

and Johnson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Johnson.

Hyabusa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Johnson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hyabusa has escaped the position, nice work there.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Hyabusa throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Hyabusa throws a shot from downtown. Johnson moves away and avoids it.
Hyabusa misses with a two punch combination.
A slow jab from Hyabusa misses its intended target.

Hyabusa stuffs the takedown.
No joy there for Hyabusa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hyabusa throws an overhand right that lands on Johnson's shoulder, as Johnson tries to avoid the shot.
Ryu Hyabusa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hyabusa Rushes Johnson and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Johnson is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Hyabusa Piles on the pressure and Johnson crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryu Hyabusa!
