Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between DJango Ibakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiga Ji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJango Ibakka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jiga Ji!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ibakka slips a jab from Ji.
Ji throws a hook but Ibakka blocks it.
Nice defenses there by Ibakka.
Ibakka ducks under a wild hook from Ji.
Ibakka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ji.

Ji shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ibakka napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Ji working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ji is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ji is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ibakka stays in close to Ji's body and controls the position.
Ibakka has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ji is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ibakka is aware though and is defending well.
Ibakka has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ji escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ibakka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ibakka got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ji has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ibakka has managed to get both his arms back between Ji's legs - danger averted.

Ji working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ibakka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ibakka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ji is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ibakka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ibakka will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Ibakka displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ji throws out the jab.
Ibakka punishes Ji's body with a nice straight punch.
Ibakka tests Ji's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Ibakka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ji takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Ji loads up on a big right hand but Ibakka slips the punch.
Ji will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ibakka connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ji. Ji circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A slow jab from Ji misses its intended target.
A jab lands there for Ibakka.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ji pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ibakka back to the cage. Ji follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Ibakka changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ji scores with a nice right hand.
DJango Ibakka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ji with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ibakka to score with a decent uppercut.
Ji is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ibakka.
Jab, jab by Ibakka - just one landing.
Ji is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ibakka.
A combination from Ji does no damage.
An inside leg kick from Ji misses.
Ji is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Ibakka scores with a punch to the head.
Ji throws a series of punches but Ibakka moves out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ji shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ibakka as he jumps to the side.

Nice shot lands for Ibakka.
Ibakka explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Ibakka is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Ji moves away from the strike by Ibakka.
Ibakka is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Ji takes one to the chin there.

Ji throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ibakka throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ji takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Ibakka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Ji is rocked!
Ibakka connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Ji to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Ibakka!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). DJango Ibakka!
DJango Ibakka decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
