PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklin Munchack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Казаки - Ой Да . The key to victory for Fedor Emelianenko has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklin Munchack!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munchack takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Emelianenko scores with a hook.
Munchack has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Emelianenko finds it's way round the side to connect with Munchack's head.
Emelianenko works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Munchack closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters circling - Emelianenko throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Munchack misses with a double jab
and Emelianenko counters with a nice low kick that buckles Munchack's knee momentarily.

Nice uppercut lands for Emelianenko. That snapped Munchack's head back.
Emelianenko misses with a looping left.
Emelianenko pivots, looking for a leg kick but Munchack is out of range and Emelianenko settles back down.

Munchack closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Munchack working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Emelianenko's thigh. Emelianenko counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Munchack forces his way into half guard.
Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Emelianenko is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Munchack is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Munchack is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Emelianenko is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Emelianenko has escaped and now he's on top!

Franklin Munchack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Emelianenko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Emelianenko lands a really nice looking cross but Munchack seems unphased.

Munchack closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Emelianenko's guard.
Munchack stands and throws Emelianenko's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Munchack tries to move into full mount but can't pass Emelianenko's legs.
Emelianenko parries the strikes from Munchack easily there. Munchack is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Emelianenko to escape.

Munchack is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Emelianenko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Emelianenko is trying to control Munchack's posture but Munchack avoids it.
Munchack with the ground and pound but Emelianenko regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Emelianenko looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Munchack looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Emelianenko regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Munchack.

Franklin Munchack comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Munchack has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
