PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sensei Shun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Ries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chase Ries was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sensei Shun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Ries!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Ries misses.

Ries fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shun sprawls well initially but Ries persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Shun wants to improve his position but Ries is controlling well.
Ries keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Shun kicks Ries off and gets back to his feet.
Shun lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Ries takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ries misses with a left hand
and Shun counters with an outside leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Shun.

Ries scores with a takedown into Shun's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ries working some strikes from top position.
Ries slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ries works over Shun with some ground and pound from guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ries's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Shun has his foot on Ries's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ries works his way back into a safe position though.
Ries sitting in guard, not really doing much.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Chase Ries has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A jab from Ries misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ries throws a body punch but Shun moves out of range.
Ries dives in and grabs Shun's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shun pushes down on Ries's head and hops out.
Shun takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Shun is rocked!
Ries misses with a straight left.
Oh Shun is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shun is holding his hands too far apart here. Ries throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Shun is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chase Ries!
Chase Ries decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
