PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around. Blaze has chosen Monster by Skillet as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Blaze!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson moves out of range of the body kick from Blaze.
Blaze throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Blaze throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Blaze uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
Johnson attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Blaze wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Some bone on bone action there as Johnson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Blaze thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Johnson if he has to take too many more of those.
Blaze throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A head kick misses from Blaze.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blaze takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.
Blaze pivots, looking for a leg kick but Johnson is out of range and Blaze settles back down.
Blaze feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Johnson's calf.
Johnson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Blaze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blaze uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Blaze backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Johnny Blaze has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson moves out of range of the leg kick from Blaze.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Blaze.
Blaze misses with a body kick.
Johnson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Johnny Blaze is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big right from Johnson misses.
Blaze misses with a hook
enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab.
Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Johnson feints and as Blaze raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnson content to stall in guard here.
Blaze can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Blaze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blaze is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Still in half guard, Johnson seems content to control.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Johnson seems content to control.
Johnson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Johnson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Blaze turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Johnson off and cradles Blaze's limp body as Johnson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). King Johnson!
King Johnson retains his light heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, King Johnson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
