Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erick Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control.
Silva takes a little break here. Jackson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

Jackson pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

and Silva counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jackson's knee momentarily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Erick Silva.

and Silva makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.
A right hook to the body lands for Silva.
Jackson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Silva avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jackson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Silva is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jackson to the mat. Jackson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well.
Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jackson is trying to escape back to his feet but Silva uses the scramble to pass into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Silva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Silva has hold of Jackson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jackson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Oh but Jackson is tightening it up a little... Silva has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Silva reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Silva taps out! Nice BJJ there by Jackson!
