The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A left and a right from Knytmare both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Xavier Jax has been cut.

Knytmare drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Knytmare stands up over Jax, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knytmare. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Knytmare makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Knytmare decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jax shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Knytmare as he avoids it easily.
Nik Knytmare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xavier Jax.

Knytmare looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jax!
Knytmare scores with a couple of short elbows.
Jax on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Knytmare decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jax to his feet.

Knytmare has closed the distance and engaged Jax in a clinch.
Jax goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Knytmare pulls Jax into guard.
Knytmare wants to sweep here but Jax controlling him for the moment.
Knytmare manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jax manages to get himself to full guard.

Knytmare drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Knytmare jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Knytmare is in close to Jax's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Knytmare engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Knytmare gets to his feet - Jax follows without any prompting.

Jax slips a jab and a cross from Knytmare.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jax fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Knytmare throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Jax stumbling backwards into the cage! Jax bounces back off the cage towards Knytmare, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Knytmare lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Knytmare celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
