And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Gruber or perhaps it was just good defense by Barry which made him look bad.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Gruber takes one to the chin there.
Barry misses with a hook
and Gruber counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nice sprawl there from Barry as Gruber shoots in.
Gruber closes this distance looking for a takedown but Barry circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hans Gruber. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barry lands a jab to the nose.
Gruber falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barry connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Gruber shoots in for a double leg but Barry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gruber takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Gruber will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shawn Barry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Gruber takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The fighters circling - Gruber throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gruber shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barry as he jumps to the side.

Barry takes a swing at Gruber's ribcage but misses.
Barry moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Hans Gruber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gruber feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barry pushes Gruber off looking to stand but Gruber dives back in and keeps control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barry can do anything to dispel that myth.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Barry is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gruber scores with a couple of nice shots.
Barry pushes Gruber off looking to stand but Gruber dives back in and keeps control.

Gruber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Barry is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
BOOM! Gruber connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Barry throws a hook but Gruber blocks it.
Barry slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Gruber misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barry blocks a head kick by Gruber.
Barry throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Gruber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barry tries to avoid it but Gruber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barry to the ground. Barry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Barry stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barry wants it to stay on the feet.
Barry throws a series of punches but Gruber moves out of range.
Shawn Barry seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice takedown defense from Barry. No joy for Gruber on that attempt.

Barry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gruber.
Barry fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gruber on the side of the head.
Barry misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gruber shoots for a double leg takedown but Barry sprawls well. He's pushed Gruber's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck for Gruber with that takedown attempt.

and Barry counters with a straight right hand.
Gruber takes one on the button.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gruber is defended easily by Barry.

and Barry counters with a lovely straight right hand!


Gruber is rocked!
Gruber walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Barry! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
