Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Laid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peyton Hillis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Laid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peyton Hillis!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laid shoots for a takedown but Hillis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Laid misses with a takedown
and Hillis counters with a head kick.
Laid gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hillis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Laid. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laid changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hillis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hillis is looking to clinch but Laid is avoiding it.
Hillis connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


It looks like Mike Laid has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hillis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hillis wants to stand but Laid has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Laid had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hillis defends it easily.

Laid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hillis defends well.

Laid has his foot on Hillis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hillis works his way back into a safe position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hillis stands up and waves to Laid to follow him.

Hillis drives through and clinches with Laid against the cage.
Hillis looking to throw knees to the head but Laid is blocking nicely.
Laid letting Hillis take a breather here.

Laid ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Laid no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Laid is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hillis is aware though and is defending well.

Hillis tries to stand but Laid is controlling from the bottom.

Laid throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hillis escapes and throws Laid's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Laid is looking to reverse the position.

Hillis stands up.
Laid shoots for a takedown but Hillis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hillis wants to clinch.
Hillis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hillis with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Hillis has closed the distance and engaged Laid in a clinch.
Laid tries for a takedown but Hillis manages to get underhooks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hillis.
Laid is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hillis to keep the fight standing.
Hillis misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Laid.
Hillis lands an elbow that stopped Laid in his tracks for a moment.
Hillis gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Hillis using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Laid is breathing heavily.
Hillis is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Hillis dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Hillis working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Laid tries to pull guard but Hillis holds him up against the cage and eventually Laid drops back down to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peyton Hillis dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mike Laid's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Laid shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Hillis has managed to clinch.
Hillis misses with an elbow strike.
Hillis lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hillis lands an elbow inside that Laid shrugs off.

Hillis breaks from the clinch.
Laid with a poor takedown

and Hillis counters by clinching up.
Hillis leaning his opponent against the cage.
Hillis lands an elbow inside.

Laid gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Laid with a flurry of punches that miss.

Laid drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hillis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hillis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hillis!

Laid is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hillis tries to stand but Laid is controlling his head.

Hillis decides to stand back up. Hillis steps back and let's Laid get back to his feet.
Laid shoots for a double leg takedown but Hillis sprawls well. He's pushed Laid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A nice combination there by Hillis.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hillis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Laid paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hillis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hillis wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Laid. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hillis has Laid up against the cage in a clinch.

Hillis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hillis scores with a spinning back kick!
Laid fails with the takedown.
Hillis tries to clinch but Laid is having none of it.
Laid with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hillis makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Hillis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hillis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hillis breaks the clinch.

Hillis forces Laid back against the cage and clinches.
Nice elbow from Hillis.


Mike Laid's cut is getting worse.

Hillis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Laid misses with a takedown
and Hillis counters with a nice leg kick.

Hillis moves into the clinch.
Hillis is pressed up against the cage. Laid has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hillis down to the mat. Hillis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hillis has closed the distance and engaged Laid in a clinch.
Hillis lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hillis lands an elbow that stopped Laid in his tracks for a moment.
Laid has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hillis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hillis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hillis steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Laid is out on his feet! Hillis sets himself and nearly takes Laid's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Peyton Hillis!
A very excited looking Peyton Hillis rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
