Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fujika Kaguchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fujika Kaguchi!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Kaguchi which made him look bad.
Good exchange - James coming out on top.
No luck for James with that takedown attempt.
Kaguchi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice sprawl there from James as Kaguchi shoots in.
Kaguchi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from James.
Kaguchi shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jack James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fujika Kaguchi.
James looks for a takedown but Kaguchi sprawls well.
Kaguchi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kaguchi off to one side.
Kaguchi takes one to the chin there.
James shoots for a takedown but Kaguchi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

James clinches with his opponent.
James wants to stall.

James manages to break the clinch.
Kaguchi has a takedown stuffed.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Kaguchi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Kaguchi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in James's guard.
Kaguchi looks winded!

James is working an open guard so Kaguchi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kaguchi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kaguchi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kaguchi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! James is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! James has escaped and now he's on top!
James wants to get up but he can't break Kaguchi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kaguchi wants to sweep but no luck.

Kaguchi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. James defends it easily.

Kaguchi is trying to control the position but James postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaguchi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.

Kaguchi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but James pulls his head out easily.
Kaguchi wants to get back to full guard.
Kaguchi is not content to let James control the position.
James working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James wants to stand up but Kaguchi has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kaguchi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kaguchi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Poor strikes thrown by Kaguchi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kaguchi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now James is on top in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kaguchi is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fujika Kaguchi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


James shoots in for a double leg but Kaguchi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kaguchi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.
James is trying to push Kaguchi away but Kaguchi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

James breaks from the clinch.

James gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kaguchi to score an easy takedown into full guard.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kaguchi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kaguchi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but James manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kaguchi has James in his guard.
Kaguchi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kaguchi thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kaguchi is proving hard to escape from.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kaguchi has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kaguchi looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but James is defending well. Kaguchi quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! James has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kaguchi celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fujika Kaguchi!
