PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Jim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Norwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arvo Norwood told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Jim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arvo Norwood!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jim lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jim scores with a hook.
Norwood tries to clinch but Jim is having none of it.
Jim throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jim misses with a few strikes there.
Jim connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


Norwood is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Norwood takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Norwood is still on wobbly legs! Can Jim finish him?
Jim circles away from the clinch attempt.
Norwood seems to have recovered his senses.
James Jim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Norwood misses with a takedown attempt - Jim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Norwood shoots in looking for a takedown. Jim tries to sprawl out of it but Norwood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jim manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jim throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Norwood.
Jim blocks a jab.
Jim dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Jim lands with a good body shot.
Jim cracks Norwood with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Norwood shoots in for a takedown but Jim shows good takedown defense.
James Jim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arvo Norwood.
Jim swinging wildly here.
Norwood dodges the punch combination from Jim.
Norwood misses with a left hand
and Jim counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jim misses with the combination.
Jim just misses with a punch to the body.
Jim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Norwood stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
No joy there for Jim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Norwood uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jim.
Jim is looking to wear down Norwood with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Norwood avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jim lunges at Norwood with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Norwood's hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Norwood looks for a takedown but Jim sprawls well.
Jim lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Norwood at a distance.
No joy there for Jim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Norwood stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Oooooh!!! Jim has knocked Norwood down with a huge combo! Jim steps away and waves a wobbly Norwood back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
The fight stays on the outside here - Norwood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jim misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Norwood.
Jim tries to bum rush Norwood with a series of wild strikes but Norwood uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Jim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Norwood on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Norwood fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jim throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Norwood moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A combination from Jim does no damage.
Norwood shoots in and drives through. Jim sprawls well.
Jim connects with the punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Norwood clinches up against the cage.
Jim is looking to break free of the clinch but Norwood has double underhooks.

Norwood jumps guard and drags Jim to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jim would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Norwood trying to keep a closed guard but Jim is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jim won't allow Norwood to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Jim dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jim throws a series of punches but Norwood avoids them all with ease.
A big right from Norwood misses.
Jim misses with a two punch combination.
Norwood takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jim throws a series of punches but Norwood moves out of range.
James Jim is winning the standup battle so far.
Jim throws the left hand but Norwood avoids the punch easily.
Norwood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Norwood uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jim.

Jim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Norwood moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Norwood moves into the clinch successfully.

Norwood tries to pull guard but Jim won't allow it.
Norwood drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A frustrated look appears on Jim's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Norwood keeps control of Jim as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Norwood goes for a takedown attempt but Jim pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
James Jim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arvo Norwood.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jim drops Norwood with a beautiful combination! Norwood stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jim is looking for the KO!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jim misses with a few strikes there.
Jim moves out of range as Norwood strikes.
BOOM! Jim lands a beautiful left hook that drops Norwood. Norwood tries to recover but Jim is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Norwood lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Jim!
