Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gideao Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Derpens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Samuel Derpens!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Derpens moves into the clinch.
Derpens with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Derpens misses with some punches.

Derpens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Derpens fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gideao Tavares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Derpens wants to clinch.
Tavares shoots in looking for a takedown. Derpens tries to sprawl out of it but Tavares keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Derpens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Derpens is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tavares sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Derpens gets caught flat footed, as Tavares shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tavares missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tavares advances position into side control!

Tavares tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tavares has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Derpens tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Tavares is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Derpens is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Derpens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Tavares has hold of Derpens's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Derpens seems comfortable defending it but Tavares has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Derpens is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Derpens is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Tavares couldn't care less - he's delighted!

An out of breath Gideao Tavares thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
