The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menezes lands with a nice combination. Santan backs away looking to recover.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Santan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Santan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Menezes looks a forlorn figure.
Menezes suckers Santan into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Menezes is now in Santan's guard!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Menezes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Santan's head.

Menezes looks for the body kick but Santan saw that one coming.
Santan shoots in looking for a takedown but Menezes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Santan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Menezes feints a jab promting Santan to slip. Menezes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Santan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Santan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Menezes lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Santan! Menezes senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Santan out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!

A relieved looking Charles Menezes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
