The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

hughes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Curley misses with a strike from the bottom.

hughes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
hughes tries to move to mount but Curley blocks the move with his legs.

hughes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

hughes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Curley has escaped the position, nice work there.

hughes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Curley, who protects the arm well.
Curley struggling a bit here.

hughes works to advance to full mount. Curley defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
hughes prevents Curley from getting the reversal.
Curley is working hard here to advance position.

hughes wants to finish this one by submission but Curley is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from hughes.
hughes won't let Curley get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Curley defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from hughes.

hughes jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Curley manages to avoid the submission attempt.
hughes looks gassed!
Curley tries to improve position but can't.

hughes swings around for an armbar but Curley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into hughes's guard.
hughes keeping moving, preventing Curley from controlling successfully.

hughes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Curley trying to control the position from guard on top but hughes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

hughes looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Curley has picked hughes up and slammed him! hughes can't keep hold of the triangle and Curley manages to pass to side control!
hughes tries to buck Curley off but Curley is having none of it.
hughes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Curley's best efforts.
hughes wants to improve his position but Curley is controlling well.

Curley tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Curley prevents hughes from improving his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Curley connects with the punch.
Curley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around hughes's waist but hughes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Curley off to one side.
hughes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Curley counters with a stiff right hand.
Curley tries to close the distance and clinch but hughes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

hughes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Curley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

hughes is working to tighten is grip on Curley's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Curley has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but hughes is really squeezing tight and eventually Curley passes out! hughes breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
