PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Freemen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Durk Tent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Freemen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Durk Tent!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tent pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Freemen wants to clinch.

Freemen has Tent up against the cage in a clinch.

Freemen breaks the clinch.
Tent swats away the attempt to clinch by Freemen.
Freemen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Freemen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tent paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Freemen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tent avoids it really well and circles away.

Freemen moves into range and clinches up with Tent.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Freemen as Tent tries to tie him up.

Tent has clasped his hands together around Freemen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Freemen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tent has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Tent trying to control the position but Freemen is working away.
Tent is trying to ground and pound but Freemen uses the momentary lack of control by Tent to regain half guard.
Tent has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tent wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freemen keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Freemen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Freemen looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tent has control of Freemen's left arm, preventing Freemen from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Freemen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tent is working an open guard so Freemen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Tent fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Freemen, pushing him back against the cage.

Freemen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tent drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tent passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Freemen is breathing heavily.
Freemen sneaks back into half guard.
Tent trying to pass the guard but Freemen defending well.
Tent missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Tent wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still in half guard, Tent seems content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Durk Tent will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Tent shoots for a double leg takedown but Freemen sprawls well. He's pushed Tent's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Freemen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Tent tries to break the clinch but Freemen is controlling the position.
Tent jumps guard but Freemen stands there with Tent around his waist. Tent gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tent has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Freemen after a bit of a struggle.
Brandon Freemen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Durk Tent.

Freemen attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Tent blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Tent gets control of Freemen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tent will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Tent controls Freemen momentarily but Freemen frees himself.
Freemen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Freemen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Freemen shoots in for a takedown but Tent shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tent throws a head kick but Freemen moves out of range.
Tent misses with the combination.
Freemen throws a right and a left that Tent avoids nicely.
Tent tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Tent forces Freemen back against the cage and clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tent tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Tent breaks the clinch.

Tent darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Tent prevents Freemen from standing back up.
Tent looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Freemen is not content to let Tent control the position.
Tent works his foot free and advances to mount.
Freemen is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Tent.
Tent throwing strikes here but Freemen is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Tent wants to control the pace but Freemen is squirming around nicely.
Tent wants to get back to his feet but Freemen is holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tent controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Durk Tent will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Freemen is looking for a sweep.

Freemen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tent is controlling him well.
Tent working the ground and pound but Freemen is defending the strikes.

Tent is working to tighten is grip on Freemen's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Freemen has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tent is really squeezing tight and eventually Freemen passes out! Tent breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
