PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jhon Rimba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Fallout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rimba lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

It looks like Ben Fallout has been cut.

Rimba gets a double leg takedown into Fallout's guard.
Fallout wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rimba manages to pass to side control.
Fallout wants to control but Rimba is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fallout is looking to escape.
Rimba wants to stand but Fallout has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rimba is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rimba seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fallout does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rimba is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fallout defends it well.

Fallout tries to reverse the position but Rimba maintains control.
Fallout reaches up and holds on to Rimba to control the position.

Fallout is squirming around, avoiding Rimba's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fallout tries to reverse the position but Rimba maintains control.
Rimba wants to control the pace but Fallout is squirming around nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fallout is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Fallout holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rimba tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Rimba postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fallout looks a forlorn figure.

Fallout tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fallout is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Rimba trying to control but Fallout is having none of it.
Rimba avoids the attempt from Fallout to control.
Fallout is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Rimba is staying active.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rimba gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rimba is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fallout defends well.
Fallout wants to control from the top but Rimba keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fallout's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Fallout controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Rimba looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fallout trying to control but Rimba is working from the bottom.
Fallout wants to pass the guard but Rimba is keeping the position.
Fallout slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rimba is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Ben Fallout has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Fallout slaps away a takedown attempt from Rimba, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fallout shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rimba as he jumps to the side.
Fallout avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Fallout. No joy for Rimba on that attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rimba moves out of range of the body kick from Fallout.
Rimba avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rimba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fallout gets a takedown into half guard.
Rimba flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rimba pushes Fallout off looking to stand but Fallout dives back in and keeps control.
Fallout thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rimba's head.
Fallout sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rimba defending well though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Fallout is pressing down on Rimba's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rimba is holding on for now.
Rimba wants to get back to his feet.

Fallout slows the pace down in half guard.
Fallout is trying to control the action in half guard but Rimba is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ben Fallout was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Horrible takedown by Fallout or perhaps it was just good defense by Rimba which made him look bad.

Fallout closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rimba did well to prevent Fallout getting side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fallout is looking to take a break and control but Rimba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fallout wants to free his trapped foot but Rimba is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fallout shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rimba is trying to control but can't.
Fallout trying to pass the guard but Rimba defending well.
Fallout tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Rimba.
Fallout drops an elbow to the side of Rimba's head.
Rimba is looking to control Fallout's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rimba avoid being mounted?

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fallout throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Fallout is thwarting Rimba's attempts to control the position.
Rimba is pressing down on Fallout's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fallout wants to stand and escape but instead Rimba has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Fallout will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Rimba uses his free foot to push down on Fallout's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fallout.

Rimba drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rimba jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fallout uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Fallout throws a body kick that misses.
Fallout tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rimba swivels and escapes.
Fallout throws a push kick but Rimba slaps the foot to one side.
Rimba tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fallout rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rimba moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rimba fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fallout tries to clinch but Rimba is having none of it.

Ben Fallout comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fallout has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
