PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elliot Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Morte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopper throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Morte fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hopper drops Morte with a big left hand and mounts him. Morte is in big trouble!

It looks like Ivan Morte has been cut.
Morte is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hopper throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
You get the feeling that Morte really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hopper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Morte's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hopper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hopper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Morte is in all sorts of trouble here.

Morte tries to lock up and control but Hopper gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Poor strikes thrown by Hopper there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Morte is trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hopper wants to finish this one by submission but Morte is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hopper.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hopper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Morte on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
